so the 1 in 12 club in bradford was vandalised on sunday, barely two or three weeks after the mad dash to help it pass a fire inspection. according to the bradford telegraph, “damage is estimated at £1,000, with hundreds of pounds of power tools, including a saw and an angle grinder, also stolen in the raid, believed to have happened between 2.30am and noon on sunday”. the full news story is here if you’re interested.
while i’ve never visited the club myself (annoying as i worked down the road from it for about a year and a half), i’m more than aware of it as a legendary and important DIY space which is something very hard to find in the UK. most people with a passing interest in DIY punk/hardcore/emo/folk/whatever will have more than likely seen a band who has passed through its doors. with that in mind, i don’t think there is a more appropriate time to repost these two benefit compilations that came out a few weeks ago:

the two comps feature a bunch of absolutely incredible bands (facel vega, mob rules, lich, closure, twisted, endless grinning skulls, what price wonderland?, state icons, drainland, moloch, afternoon gentlemen, etc etc) that are all well worth your time. to give further money to the club, i would suggest following the 1 in 12s instructions on their website, which is also posted here for ease of use:
